Sorting This for the Storage Unit and Making a Fantastic Dinner
Good afternoon, y’all!
Hey y’all! Hope you are having a good first half of your day! Mine has been a little slow as of writing this, but I’ve got a few things to get done today which will quicken my day. Today I am sipping on one of my homemade sodas, my snack is an English muffin with homemade butter (I’ll get into that later!) and I have some Disney Jazz covers going on in the background. Grab a cozy blanket, a warm beverage and let’s get to catching up!
Wednesday 1/21
Today, I got up and Hubby and I hung out for a bit before going through everything on our dining room table and living room. We haven’t had time to actually go to the storage unit, reorganize it, and put in the new things. We’ve been going from room to room going through stuff and seeing if we should put it in the storage unit. When the time comes, we’ll load up both of our trucks with things needing to go to the storage unit and reorganize the whole thing. And of course, add the new ones.
For now, we decided to declutter our dining table and living room. It wasn’t all too bad to do, just took a lot of time. I’m pretty sure it took most of the day too.
Hubby had to go out to a service call and I stayed home. While I was home though, it gave me some time to do the dishes. After he came back, we chatted and hung out for a half hour before he had to leave again for Youth Group. Our church has Youth Group for junior high and high schoolers on Wednesday nights, and he serves there.
While he was gone, I hung out at home. The living room was honestly still a mess, but it was one of the messes that I didn’t really care about. It wasn’t a big thing in my way not letting me do things, it was just there.
It was about time for dinner and I had a recipe I wanted to try out I had seen on YouTube. Here is the original video if you would like to see and try it out for yourself! Tonight, I was trying out Chicken and Bacon Tenders with ranch and a side of brussels sprouts. I initially wasn’t too sure about the brussels sprouts, but I wanted to give them a fare shot. Usually if I think I won’t like something, I won’t try it. This time, I went completely against that and just tried them.
The tenders and the brussels sprouts were really easy to make. And the ranch was so good! Here is the link to the video of her homemade ranch recipe.
The food was done and it was time to eat. The tenders were surprisingly good and so were the brussels sprouts! The brussels sprouts, at least to me, tasked exactly like steamed broccoli.
After eating, I hung out until Hubby came home. When he did, we got ready and went to bed.
Thursday 1/22
Today was a packed day. I got up and Hubby and I had some breakfast. Which was sunny side up eggs with toast. Such an amazing breakfast. When we finished up, it was time to go to my dentist’s appointment.
Sorry in advance grandma! Lol. I had 2 very small fillings that had to be done, and I wanted Hubby there for after. I absolutely hate needles and just wanted him there for when I was done.
My appointment was done in about 40 minutes, and when it was done, we headed home. Worst part was, I had one on the left side, and one on the right. I was numbed on both sides of my face. It was so hard to even just smile dude. Let alone drink water!
After coming home, Hubby started on his homework while I started on the chores. I conquered yet another Dish Mountain (aka I cleaned a lot of dishes), did laundry, vacuumed and picked up the entire kitchen. But the kitchen didn’t stay clean for very long. Y’all will see why in a second.
After cleaning, I made a list and I went to Walmart for a few things for dinner. One of our friends was coming over and I wanted to make a great meal. I usually go all out cooking when people come over and do quant meals for Hubby and I. Sometimes I’ll have a fun meal with him, but we’re more of the kind of people who love a simple casserole when it’s just us.
Right after getting back home from the store, I started making something I’ve wanted to make for awhile now, homemade butter! It turned out so well and it only took 2 ingredients! Heavy whipping cream and salt. And if you don’t want salted butter, take out the salt. Now it’s only 1 ingredient! And it doesn’t take much to make it at all. Highly recommend making homemade butter. I used this recipe if you also want to try making it!
Tonight, I was making steaks, mashed potatoes and a side of steamed broccoli (the link I gave y’all is for the AI Google thing. I just did what the AI said. lol). If any of y’all would like these recipes, just click the food you want to make! Although, you can’t do that with the mashed potatoes. They are my dad’s recipe. Maybe for one of my family recipe newsletters, I’ll give y’all 3-5 small family recipes instead of one meal!
For dessert, I made a berry cobbler and homemade vanilla ice cream. Well, I was aiming for ice cream, but I didn’t put the freezer bowl in the freezer for enough time. I thought about making ice cream just that afternoon, so it didn’t have enough time to get really cold. BUT it did make the most perfect milkshakes! The consistency was literally the consistency of a perfect milk shake.
It was really nice having our friend over and chatting about life. Always sweet to be able to talk with friends and have them over. I also found out I really like having people over and cooking for them. I want to make them happy with my food and give them a break from reality. Just talk over a good meal.
Unfortunately, the night had to end. We all said our goodbyes and our friend went home. Hubby and I started to put away extra food and cleaned a little bit. Just the things that needed to soak in water over night. We then got ready for bed and read for about a half hour before going to bed. While reading though, I finished The Housemaid and WOW did I love it. I feel like I’ll have to write a rant about it in my rant newsletter in February, but we’ll see! I also found out there are 3 other books in the series. Here are links to the other books in the series if you’d wanna check them out! (I put them in chronological order so it would be an easy read for y’all :) ) The Housemaid, The Housemaid’s Secret, The Housemaid’s Wedding and The Housemaid Is Watching. I just might have to get them!
After half an hour, we put our books down and went to bed.
A Little Encouragement
Today’s Bible verse is Philippians 4:5-7:
“Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Thank all y’all for reading today’s post! I have seen that I’ve been writing more and more words over the span of the last few posts. But I have a feeling y’all don’t mind! I hope all y’all have a great rest of your day! Hope to see y’all on Monday for the next post!
With a Spoonful of Sugar, Rachel
