I’m Finally Getting Up Early!

Good afternoon, y’all!
Hi y’all! Hope all y’all are having a great chilly December day. Today’s drink is some apple juice, and we’ve got some festive Christmas music goin’ as well. Grab a chair and let’s chat!

Monday 12/1

Today I got up late… again. But this doesn’t bleed over into Tuesday! After finally getting up, I started writing my blog for the day. If you read Monday’s post, you will have seen that I apologized for getting it out about four hours late. The reason is because I got up so late, I didn’t have the time needed to write it. I think I got up around 10, which only gave me about two hours to finish. But I got breakfast, slumped on the couch, and finally got started when I only had ten minutes left.

After beginning my blog post, I had planned with my Mom to see her and have lunch at her house. But I needed to grab some things from my house to give her. If you’re new, Hubby and I are staying at his aunt and uncle’s for the next couple of days (I like to call it the “Family Airbnb,” haha!). And what I needed was at our house. So I packed up Tuck and went over there. I grabbed what I needed, said hi to our sad kitty Banjo, and headed to my parents’.

We decided on Panda Express (my order is a plate with all coconut shrimp and chow mein) and chit-chatted. My parents were actually headed to Walt Disney World the next day, and I have a small collection of Spirit Jerseys. So I brought my Mom a Christmas one she requested and also my Christmas Minnie Ears. And because they were going, we talked about all things Disney. My family loves the parks so much, and I am so happy they are able to go!

After talking and eating, Tuck and I said goodbye and headed back to the “Family Airbnb.” After coming home, I worked on more LEGO MOCs and later had dinner, which was just my leftover Panda.

After eating, I did some more LEGO, and when the time came, I got ready and went to bed.

Tuesday 12/2

On this particular Tuesday, I actually got up at a good time! And not just because the dogs were barking up a storm. I had said in a previous post that I wanted to start getting up earlier, and I found a way to do just that. Usually Hubby has a few alarms that go off one right after the other, and that usually wakes me up. It’s so annoying that you want to get up just to stop them. Well, I did that for myself. I had a base alarm that went off at 7am, and then maybe 4–5 other alarms two minutes apart. And that got me up quick!

After getting up early, I got some breakfast and worked on something I haven’t done in a while: the crochet Christmas tree skirt! I don’t know what got into me, but I really wanted to get it done, and I worked for a while on it. I was at the stage of sewing in the tails, but I didn’t wanna do that 20 times over. So I tied the yarn tails together (in a way that wouldn’t bunch up the skirt) and called it good! Then I had to work on the border, but I was going to crochet the buttonholes into the skirt. To know how big to make them, I needed buttons… and buttons were exactly what I didn’t have.

After realizing this, I was off to Michaels! I had previously looked on their app to see if they even had what I needed—decent-sized wooden buttons. And they did! I put the dogs away, got in the car, and was off. While at stores, I like to look around and see what they’ve got holiday-wise. And man, did they have a lot of stuff. I first grabbed what I needed, then went through their holiday section. A lot of it was very girly and would be cute in your apartment or a home you’re sharing with a friend. What I’m trying to say is: it didn’t fit in with the theme of our home. But some of it was so cute!

I went to look at their ornaments and there were some good ones, but only one that I really needed. It’s like one of the red trucks with the Christmas tree in the back, but a tractor! I’ll make sure to have a picture of it at the end of this post. I knew Hubby needed it, and it was discounted too. It originally was $12.99, which is a lot for a little ornament, but because it was half off, it was only about six bucks.

After my fun Michaels trip, I went to our home to grab some food for dinner that night. I went, grabbed the food, said hello to Banjo, and was off. When I got back to the “Family Airbnb” I got started on dinner. It was 1:30 at this point, but it was a slow-cooker meal: Chili Verde. I haven’t done a newsletter on it being a family recipe yet. I love this meal and can’t wait to share it with y’all! I did have to wait a long time for the beef to defrost. I put it in some water and had to keep checking on it until it was ready, which was around 4. While I waited, I did the dishes and had a little snack. I’ve always loved the Talenti frozen treats, but this one was my absolute favorite! I’ll put a picture below, but it is their sorbetto in the falvor Summer Strawberry. When the meat was ready, I put everything in the pot and let it cook for four hours.

While waiting I finished my crochet Christmas tree skirt! I will make sure to put some pictures at the end of this post.

Hubby was already home and when it was ready to, we ate! It was so good and definitely nice to have a home-cooked meal.

After eating, I continued with my LEGO MOCs. Then I put the food away, got ready, and went to bed.

A Little Encouragement

Today’s Bible verse is Psalm 127:1:
“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.”

Thank y’all for reading the latest post! I hope y’all have a safe and cozy rest of your days!

P.S. Tomorrow is a newsletter day!

If y’all want a little extra from me, subscribe below to The Sugar Bowl! I send out a newsletter on the first and third Thursdays of the month—the first is always a family recipe with a fun story, and the third is a rant or something fun I wanna chat about. And tomorrow is a family recipe day! Hope to see y’all there! :)

With a Spoonful of Sweetness, Rachel
