I Thought Waxing Was a Great Idea…It Was Not

Good afternoon, y’all!
Hey y’all! Hope your day is going well so far. This morning, I made some scrambled eggs and breakfast sausage with some mild sauce on top. And for my drink, I made a Strawberry Refresher (my fav flavor are the strawberry ones!) using Donut Shop K-Cups. Highly recommend y’all get ‘em. I also have some Pandora Nighttime Ambiance in the background. Grab your favorite snack, grab a chair and let’s chat!

Monday 2/2

This morning, I got up, fed and took out Tucker. After, I sat down and wrote the blog post for the day. If you want to read Monday’s blog post, here it is!

I’ve wanted to start posting more on the blog Instagram and I thought I had the best idea. I needed to pick up and clean my home. I thought it would be a great idea if I just filmed it. I’m not one to want to act perfect here or on social media. I’m not going to pick up 1 corner of my living room just to film something. Same when I share some of my day-to-day life here. Everyone is far from perfect and I want to show that in my blog and social media posts. And some of those people are stay-at-home-wives/moms and having a messy home is the norm for them. They feel they are the only ones who have messy homes and don’t like that. I’ve fallen into this before just from seeing someone else’s home in the background of a video on social media. It is true some of those people are just smart with cleaning and others just want to look perfect for social media. All that to say, I wanted to show the realness of my home and kinda share it with others it’s okay your home looks messy. But it’s you who can choose to make it look clean and picked up. Hope that all makes sense. Haha!

After cleaning and filming, I sat down and edited the first part of cleaning my home. It’s crazy just how much room things take in your phone. I didn’t have quite enough storage on my phone for some short videos, so I had to delete some things that should’ve not been there. Just apps I barely touch. That’s another thing, why do apps take up SO much room in my phone? I thought it would be photos/videos, but nope. Just apps.

After deleting things and editing, I posted the first part to my Instagram and continued with my day.

Hubby came home and we hung out for a bit before getting ready to go to small group. In our church we have these things called small groups. It’s pretty much where once a week people in your area (that all go to the same church) meet at one person’s home and we talk about the sermon. After an hour or so, we break into guys and girls and we share/talk about prayer requests. It was great to talk with my friends about some things in my life and know how to pray for them. Very filling.

When it was over, Hubby and I drove home, had a quick bite to eat and got ready and went to bed.

Tuesday 2/3

This morning, I got up, fed and took out Tucker. Pretty much the norm now Lol.

I have always hated shaving, and I thought I would try out waxing. Just having that thought was such a mistake, dude. I looked up a recipe and made some wax. I grabbed an old t-shirt and cut it into wax strips. After I made sugar wax. I combined ½ cup sugar and ¼ cup lemon juice headed in a pan until it’s a very light caramel color. Pretty simple. While I was waiting (because I had the stove on lol) I put away and cleaned some dishes. When the wax was ready and cooled, I put some in a bowl and headed it for 20 seconds in the microwave. I went to the couch, put some on my leg (when it was cool enough) and a piece of the t-shirt on top. I did this a few times and later regrated it.

I have seen people on the internet who love waxing and that it wasn’t that bad. Well, they lied. Kinda. I get you would be more used to it after waxing for a while. But when you’re a newbie, wow does it hurt.

I pulled the first strip and was shocked of how the pain and how much was waxed off. There was a lot of hair on the strip, but a lot of hair left on my leg. The first 2 or 3 strips were fine to pull off, but it wasn’t fun either. I hadn’t realized the massive hole I dug for myself quite yet. I pulled the fourth and it was all downhill from there. I thought it would also be smart to put 4 more strips on my leg to “just get it over with”. I tore the first one off, but I couldn’t get myself to do the others. While I was also waiting for my confidence to finally rip off the last strips, I edited a reel for Instagram and posted it. Nice break from yanking out my hair.

I wished so badly I had someone else here with me to pull them off, but Tucker and Banjo literally can’t pull them off and probably didn’t want to. So, I did what I thought the next best thing was. I painstakingly and slowly peeled off the other 3 strips that were stuck to my hair and skin. It was quite brutal and look what felt like forever taking them off.

Some of you may think Imma wimp for not being able to do this. But I take and will wear that with honor. Cause I am never doing that again. Not for all the money in the world, dude.

I wasn’t going to be walking around in the world with patchy legs, so I went to the shower and just shaved. Which is what I will be sticking to from now on. I am not a wax girl, I will stick with my razor, thank you. Haha!

When I finished, I got ready, ordered a Starbucks from the app and got out the door. I was meeting with some friends at one of their homes and I thought Starbucks was perfect. I picked up my iced peppermint mocha (yes, I get it iced in the warmer months and hot in the cold months. That is all I drink from there for the most part. Haha!) and went to her home.

It was so nice being able to socialize and talk with the girls. And the cherry on top was I got to see my friend’s baby again! I just love his little face and being able to hold him. I cannot wait to have one of my own someday. <3  Us girls hung out and talked for hours until it was time for us to go home. I was the last one there and literally had to make myself go home. I wanted to talk to my friend so bad, but I had to go home. Definitely will be making plans to see her again soon.

I came home and started on a late dinner. Hubby came home shortly after and decided to take Tucker outside to play. I continued making dinner, they came back and we ate. It’s nice being able to chat over a meal with Hubby. Get some time to ourselves after the business of the day.

When it was time, we got ready and went to bed.

A Little Encouragement

Today’s Bible verse is Proverbs 31:27:
“She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.”

Thank all y’all for reading today’s post! I hope y’all have a great rest of your day today! And keep a lookout on the blog’s Instagram to see what I post!

P.S. Tomorrow is a newsletter day!

If y’all want a little extra from me, subscribe below to The Sugar Bowl! I send out a newsletter on the first and third Thursdays of the month—the first is always a family recipe with a fun story, and the third is a rant or something fun I wanna chat about. And tomorrow is a rant day! Hope to see y’all there! :)

With a Spoonful of Sweetness, Rachel

Photos!

So sorry y’all, but there are no photos for today’s post. Like I said in the last post, I’m really trying to take photos for y’all, but the social media stuff is so new to me I don’t even think to take pics. Haha! Will make a point to take more for y’all!
