Choosing My Phone Over Reading. How Delightful.

Good afternoon, y’all!
Hey y’all! Hope you’re having a great day so far! Today is the first post for the month of February! It’s crazy how fast time flies now that I’m older. Haha! Still have to change my calendar and décor. Maybe y’all will get an Instagram reel out of it soon!

Today, I am sipping on a glass of water (I know, so bougie. Haha!) and have some Walt Disney World Park Ambiance goin’ on in the background. Without further ado, grab your favorite snack and pull up a chair. Let’s get to talkin’!

Friday 1/30

This morning, I unfortunately got up late. I’ve not created a habit where I sometimes get up when I want to and I sometimes don’t. Really got to get back on track with that! After getting up, I got straight to writing the blog post for the day.

After writing, I went straight to chores. I cleaned the dishes, did laundry, vacuumed and picked up the living room. May not sound like a lot of stuff, but the dishes tend to take the most time because I have to handwash them. But, to make all chores fun, I always put in my AirPods and turn on a podcast episode I’ve been waiting for! I’ve talked about this in more detail in other posts, but by making myself wait to listen to a podcast episode, it makes me look forward and enjoy chores! Highly recommend!

I was feeling quite hungry after doing all those chores. So, I made myself some lunch. I made myself a sandwich which included: mayo, ranch, ham and cheese. The ranch may throw y’all off, but it was surprisingly really good!

I had a friend coming over to pick me up before going and hanging out, so I had to get ready. I just did a pair of jeans, a cute shirt and some jewelry. Nothing too over the top. She picked me up and we went to Target, Five Bellow and Chipotle for dinner. We talked for a long time at Chipotle, but it was so nice being able to just chat. When it got cold enough and pretty much everything was talked about, we came back to my place and said our goodbye’s.

While waiting for Hubby to get back home, I worked on some fun vow stuff. I’ve kept the papers we wrote our vows on from our wedding and have wanted to do something fun with them. I started putting them together in a cute format in Word and I think they’re going to look so cute when I’m finished with them.

Hubby came home with a surprise of McDonald’s hot fudge ice cream and some fries for me. He really is just the best! <3 We chatted over our ice cream and when it was time, we got ready and went to bed.

Saturday 1/31

This morning, I got up at a decent time and got right to do the dishes. It took maybe a little over an hour and a half, but they got done! Again, chores can be a pain, but putting on a podcast while you do them really helps! After dishes, I vacuumed and worked on our vows. I think I’ve finally gotten it to what I want, so I will be printing them out and hanging them up soon!

My cousin was having his birthday party today, so I got dressed and went. Sadly, Hubby couldn’t come because of some work, but I made sure to tell the birthday boy Hubby said hi. It was nice to be able to talk and catch up with different parts of my family. Obviously said hi to my parents, my uncles and really just everyone. There was pizza, cake, snacks and of course just a touch of candy. Honestly brought me back to when I was his age.

When it was time, I said my goodbyes and went to where Hubby was working. He was at his aunt and uncles, so I joined him. I pulled up a chair and hung out with him. I was meaning to read a book I brought, but my phone unfortunately seemed like “more fun.” But I do really want to start reading again. After reading The Housemaid (I really suggest you read this book if you enjoy thrillers and plot twists! I usually like more dystopian books, but I REALLY enjoyed this read! The best part…there are 3 books and 1 short novel in the series!), I wanted to start to read more. That just didn’t start today. Lol We were there for a while, but when it was late enough, we went home, got ready and went to bed.

Sunday 2/1

This morning, I got up at a good time and got ready for church. Service was great and I really enjoyed it. But I was nervous almost the entire time. After the service, we met with some elders and pastors and they prayed over me.

Some slight help to understand this. I do want to keep privet things privet, so it will be very vague. It’s been part of my life for several years, and while it doesn’t define every moment, it’s present often enough to be felt. There is no cure for this either, so that will sometimes weigh heavy on me. At the end of the day, they wanted to come around me and pray for me. In James 5 this is talked about. Here are the verses so I don’t say something wrong in my explanation (haha). James 5:14-15: “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” The pastors and elders held to this verse and prayed over me that my sickness would be taken from me. The Lord has the power to take it away from me or leave it, but His will be done.

I do not say all these things to get some sort of pity but instead show and tell others they are not alone in their medical fight. There are real people who also struggle, and they aren’t the only ones.

After we met with the pastors and elders, Hubby had a church meeting to go to, and I stayed in the car. Again, with my book, but choosing my phone. I did start to get a headache and wanted to read, but it was too much for me. When he was done, he came out and we went home. I crashed on the couch because of my headache. I ate some stuff, took my headache meds and was told I slept for a little over an hour and a half. After that nap, I felt great.

I watched some TV while Hubby continued to work on his homework. When it was time, I got dinner made and served. We ate then continued with what we were doing before. When it was time, we got ready and went to bed.

A Little Encouragement

Today’s Bible verse is Matthew 11:28-30:
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Thank all y’all for reading today’s post! I hope y’all have a great rest of your day. As for my day, it’s probably going to be looking like some chores and taking down then putting up my February décor! Bye!

With a Spoonful of Sweetness, Rachel

Photos!

So sorry y’all, but there are no photos for today’s post. Like I said in the last post, I’m really trying to take photos for y’all, but the social media stuff is so new to me I don’t even think to take pics. Haha! Will make a point to take more for y’all!
