Filled With Christmas Cheer and a Cold
Good afternoon, y’all!
Hi y’all! I hope all y’all had a cozy and family filled Christmas! Today’s post is a little different than my others. Because I took off the week of Christmas, I now have a full 7-8 days of things to tell y’all about. But I don’t want to make you guys read an excessive amount of my writings. So, my plan is to tell y’all my highlights of Christmas week and share what I got for Christmas this year! As they say on YouTube before these kinds of things, I am not going to brag to y’all what I got. I am oh so thankful for my family for giving me fun things this Christmas. I know y’all wanna just get into it, so grab your favorite blanket, a warm drink, put this cute Fireside in the background and let’s get to chattin’!
Highlights of the Last 9 Days
Alrighty, let’s start at the beginning. Well, a little before the beginning. I don’t believe I wrote this on my last post, but Hubby and I watched A Muppet Christmas Carol together. Hubby hasn’t seen it before, but I have spent many times with my grandparents when I was little. But I didn’t like the movie when I was little. You know the times when you were young and your mom “forced” you to watch that movie or bake those cookies? And when you get older you find yourself wanting to watch the movie or bake the cookies? Well, that’s how I felt. I had never put the movie on on my own, but I wanted to this year! And there is something special sharing those childhood memories with your spouse. And I highly recommend watching A Muppet Christmas Carol this season. Alright, back to Christmas week!
On the 21st, Hubby and I didn’t do too much. We went to church and hung out with each other.
On the 22nd, Hubby and I went to our small group that night. If you’re not familiar with what a small group is, I’ll try to explain it the best I can! Once a week, we get together with a few families and individuals in our area who also attend our church. We meet in someone’s home and spend time talking about the sermon from Sunday. After about an hour of discussion, we split up into guys and girls and talk more personally about prayer requests and things that are going on in our lives. But this week we didn’t do that. Because it is the week of Christmas, we decided to have a fun Christmas party with a mug white elephant game. It was a great time talking with others and playing our game! Hubby and I brought 2 extra mugs we didn’t need from home and brought home 2 very cute nubs! I will put photos at the end of the post for y’all to see ‘em! And that was the fun thing for the 22nd!
On the 23rd, our fun thing was a tradition with Hubby, my brother and my grandparents. This one has been going on for a while now, and it is one where we get together to assemble and decorate gingerbread houses! I love this tradition and highly recommend you do it to with our family! Even if y’all won’t eat ‘em when you’re done, it is still a lot of fun getting together with family and catching up. It was so much fun doing so with my little brother and grandparents. My brother has been away at college for awhile now and it was so nice being able to hang out in person again. With the gingerbread houses, I tried a new way I saw on the YouTube for how to put together your gingerbread houses. I will put the video HERE, but no credit to me. She is the genius one. Haha! And I can definitely say I will be assembling my gingerbread houses her way for now on. I will also put a picture of what our gingerbread house looked like!
On the 24th, we went to the Christmas Eve service at our church. We met my parents and grandparents and had a wonderful time at the service. After, we went back to my grandparents to have dinner together. We had some chicken noodle soup while chattin’ at the dining table.
On the 25th, it was a big day. Because it was Christmas! When my brother and I were little, we would get up so early on Christmas day. We would get up at least at 5 or 6am. We were crazy. Now that I am older and need my sleep, Hubby and I got up at 7am. We had to get to my parents at 10am for breakfast. We also had plans to bring Tucker with us. But the dude needed a bath so bad. I was going to take him to a self wash pet place, but they were closed until the new year. So I went out, grabbed some cheap shampoo and conditioner, came home and started to wash the boy. When washing Tucker at home in the tub/shower, I find it is hardest to have him in the tub and myself outside of it. It kills my knees, he’s always trying to get out, and it is always a hassle. This is what I do to make washing him a good experience for him and myself. I will put him in the tub/shower, get in myself, close the curtain and start. With the curtain closed, he thinks it’s a solid wall. After washing and drying the beast, Hubby and I got dressed and ready for my parents. After loading up the presents, the dog and finally ourselves we headed over to my parents. My parents have a Christmas tradition where they make a big breakfast. Everyone “preorders” an omelet a few days before and there is fruit and coffee cake. To put in perspective for how big the breakfast is, we usually have a bigger charcuterie board for lunch and into dinner. After eating, we started on the presents. We went around the room, with each person unwrapping their gift and thanking the person who gave it. I will share what I got in the next section, don’t worry! After opening gifts and talking for a bit, my grandma put out the large lunch charcuterie board, and everyone started to pick at it. There was meat, cheese, olives, crackers, etc. It was so good. When it was time, Hubby and I packed up our new things and the pup and went back to our house. But not for long! When the truck was unpacked, we went to his grandparent’s house to have Christmas dinner and do presents with his family. Little chaotic at times, but it is so nice to see both of our families. We got there, said our helloes, had dinner, had presents and hung out with the family. And when it was time, we packed our things and went home. We then came home and crashed.
The 26th wasn’t the best day. I woke up feeling gross and had such a bad sore throat. I knew what was coming. The winter season cold. I was hoping it was just because I talked so much the day before, but the next day confirmed it. I was sick.
On the 27th what I had theorized was true. I had a cold and it was not gonna be an okay one. I had a stuffy nose, coughing here and there, and couldn’t sleep very well. Pretty much just sat on the couch all day while Hubby was tending to me. Love him so much.
The 28th had to be the worst of it. I had a mild fever, badly stuffed up, coughing, pounding headache, aching, pain and the cherry on top, I was nauseous. I was all different kinds of sick. But the Lord got me through it through my Husband and the many YouTube videos and TV shows. But there was something good that came out of today. Whenever I get sick, I am the worst in the morning and get slowly getter throughout the day. The night before I could feel fine, but when the morning comes I get shot back down again. But today I felt so good when night came. It was like 6pm, but the sun was down. Haha! Hubby asked me if I would want to come to the ATM with him to just get out of the house and I agreed. That turned into going to Chipotle after and having a surprise date. It was nice to get out of the house and chat with Hubby. When it was time, we came back home and hung out until it was time for bed.
On the 29th, I was feeling much better. Just a very sore throat and feeling achy and coughing. I also took a lot of hot showers during the sick days. Highly recommend if you are unfortunately sick this winter season.
And I don’t know which days I did this, but I build a lot of the LEGO Tuxedo cat on my computer on BrickLink Studio. I’ll cover more of that next time. But that wraps up my week of Christmas! Now lets get onto the gifts!
Christmas Gifts
Again, as they say on YouTube before these kinds of things, I am not going to brag to y’all what I got. I am oh so thankful for my family for giving me fun things this Christmas. Here are the photos of what I got! If I can’t get a picture of what I got, I’ll use one from online. Let’s get to it!
I also got a homemade calendar that my Mom made, some candy from stockings, gift cards and cash. If any of y’all want these things, I will add links to the ones that I can!
A Little Encouragement
Today’s Bible verse is Luke 2:14:
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
This was a longer one and I thank all y’all for reading it! We will be back in the swing of things as of tomorrow, the last day of 2025! Can’t wait to talk again and I hope to see you soon!
