NEW POST! Early Mornings, Full Days and Running All Over Timbuktu
Good afternoon, y’all!
Hey y’all! Hope all y’all are having a great start to the day! Usually I don’t post on Saturdays, but I didn’t have enough time to get a post written and posted yesterday. I had a lot of things to go to with friends and family. But, to make it up to y’all, I’m gonna not only tell y’all how my Wednesday and Thursday are, but also my Friday.
For those of you who are new to my blog, hi! For future reference, here is my normal upload schedule for my blog:
- Monday’s post: includes Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
- Wednesday’s post: includes Monday and Tuesday.
- Friday’s post: includes Wednesday and Thursday.
But because I couldn’t post yesterday, I’m posting today and givin’ y’all Friday too as a sorry. Hope that all makes sense!
Let’s finally get to catchin’ up! Today I have another one of my homemade sodas with some more Disney Lofi in the background. Let’s get to it!
Wednesday 1/14
Today I got up around 7:30 and made breakfast with Hubby. I’ve been saying this almost every time I get up early, but I’m so happy it’s becoming a habit and I’m not having to force myself up!
When we were finished making and having breakfast, I worked on the blog post for the day. It felt like it went by fast, but it is always fun to write for y’all!
When I had finished the post for the day, I got to my chores. I did the dishes, laundry and vacuumed. For the first post of the year, I made a list of what I called Realistic Resolutions where I told y’all my realistic New Years resolutions. One of them was wanting to do at least 3 chores every day. I’ve since narrowed it down to doing the 3 chores that need to be done every day. If I either can’t get to any more chores or for whatever reason I can’t do them, it’s okay. I have at the very least done the necessary ones and I don’t have to really worry too much.
For a while, I loved doing chores as a newlywed. Well, that was way back in June 2024 and that lasted a solid couple of months. I was on top of everything. I could feel out of cleaning here and there (or for longer than that) but I would always come back from not feeling it and started back up again. I was really sick for about a week starting on December 26th. I was on the couch for a few days not being able to do anything. Now, for me, when getting better, I didn’t want to go back to doing my daily/weekly chores. So, I did only the necessary things, and even then I was complaining in my head about it.
But not too long after recovering from my cold, I wanted to clean again. I wanted to properly cook again. And I got right back to it!
Now, y’all may be asking, “Why is she going on such a rant about chores?” And my answer to y’all is this. There are things in this world that are defined by fun and boring. If you are home a lot, like I am, you don’t go to work. Your work is taking care of the home. You may think you are surrounded by boring, but you don’t have to look at it in that way. Yes, you have to clean and keep up your space, but it doesn’t have to be boring. Make it fun! Put on a podcast, turn on a show you’ve seen 100 times so you’re not looking at the TV very much (sometimes some background noise is nice), turn on your childhood playlist and jam out! Maybe even call a friend and talk while you clean. There are so many ways you can turn boring into, “I’ve been waiting to listen to this podcast episode for when I clean!” Even better, if you’re always waiting to listen to the next episode of your favorite podcast, make that the center of cleaning. Make it the reason why you clean. I’m cleaning so that I can listen to my podcast.
I don’t know why I went on the longest rant ever just about chores, but I guess it shows it’s something I’m passionate about! Haha!
Well, after I finished my chores, I went to my grandparents to go through some of their ornaments they don’t use anymore. And boy did I have a heyday going through them! I’ll make sure to put a picture of some of them at the bottom, but it was so much fun finding cute ornaments. And there’s just something about having ornaments your grandparents had for decades being given to you rather than going to Walmart or Target to buy ornaments.
When I was done picking through them and chatting with my grandma, I came home and hung out for a bit with Hubby. And, when it was time, we got ready and went to the Church Youth Group. Every now and again, Hubby has the privilege to preach at the Youth Group, and I try and go every time he does. Really proud of the man he is and becoming. I’m so excited to see what the Lord has in store for him down the road.
After Youth Group, Hubby and I came back home, got ready and went to bed.
Thursday 1/15
Today I again got up sometime between 7am and 8am. I got up, fed Tuck and took him out. I thought I would film a reel showing y’all how my blog/newsletter mornings go. After filming everything I needed to, I had to get ready really quick and head to a quick doctor’s appointment. For privacy reasons, I won’t go into details, but I was dealing with some skin irritation and wanted it taken care of. I’ll be fine, just think it’s from the cold weather. Nothin’ major.
After my appointment, there was a little stand where a gentleman was selling local mandarins. And I had to grab a 5lb bag. They are so good and you know they’re the real thing when they’ve got seeds in ‘em, which they had! I highly recommend y’all get some locally grown food in your area. It never disappoints.
After getting my mandarins, I came back home and finished editing the Instagram reel. I was able to do some of it while in the waiting room, but it wasn’t quite done. I finished it and posted it!
After editing, I got straight to writing and sending out the newsletter for the day. Todays was late because of my doctor’s appointment, but I’m just happy I got it out the same day rather than pushing it off. Haha!
Soon after, I got a message from my doctor explaining what the next steps were. She prescribed me a few things, and they were already ready to pick up! I got in the car and went to grab them. I also went to my grandparents to pick up some thick lotion that was recommended. And my grandparents had an extra thing of it! If y’all are also dealing with dry skin this winter season, like me, the stuff from my grandparents is the Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. And man does it work! The texture is very much like body butter, super thick and moisturizing.
I got it from my grandma, talked for a short time, and I drove back home. When I got home, it was already time for Tucker to have his dinner. And I thought it would be a great idea to try something new and show y’all! So, I fed Tuck and filmed a reel. I would later regret talking a lot and how long it was. Hope y’all don’t mind a 4-minute reel. Lol. Tryin’ to get better at the short form content! Haha!
When the reel was finished and posted, I had dinner, hung out with Hubby, browsed Facebook Market Place, then got ready and went to bed.
Friday 1/16
Alright, usually I wouldn’t add Friday into the lineup for a Friday post. But adding Friday is my way of saying sorry to y’all I couldn’t get a post up on Friday. Without further ado, here is how my Friday went!
This morning, Hubby and I had to get up early. And it’s because of me. Lol
The day before, I was browsing on Facebook Marketplace and came across something. I thought what I was looking at were records, but they were actually Laserdiscs. When I found this out, I was so confused, but I did some research and this is what I found:
Laserdiscs were the first optical disk home video format and came before DVDs. They were known for their lager size, which was the size of a record, and had much better video and audio quality than VHS tapes. But they were stopped being sold because of high costs and needing to flip it over to get the other half of the movie.
These things even had their own monster of a DVD player. Like I said, I thought they were records, but after finding out what is above, I had an amazing idea. I can’t play them on my record player, but they are the size of a record. Meaning the sleeve the disks are stored in are the same size as a record’s sleeve. My thoughts are this: I have a few frames made to showcase record sleeves/covers. What if I switch them out for these? I haven’t tried putting them in the frames, but even if they don’t fit, I can find a way around it to display them. I made an offer for a few of the Laserdiscs the guy was selling, and he got back to me quick. All the ones I wanted were available! I told him I would grab them the next day and here we are.
Back to Friday, Hubby and I had to drive about 45 minutes for these things, and I was (and still am) over the moon for them. I’m so happy with how they look. I’m slowly liking older things like records, record players, polaroid cameras, etc. (sorry grandma if I made you feel old. Haha!) And these were the perfect addition to my “old but cool stuff” collection.
After driving there and back, Hubby and I had a short time to hang out, because my grandma was on her way to pick us up to go to lunch! We all got in her car, we picked a place for lunch, and we went! I actually posted about it on Instagram, but it was so stinkin’ good. It’s called Wings Grill and Espresso Bar. It’s up in Auburn and it is so good y’all. It was so good, Clay and I want to bring all our family and friends there. Haha!
After having a great conversation with grandma, we all climbed back in the car to go home. We got home, said our goodbyes and thank yous. Clay and I had about an hour before the next activity we were going to. So, we decided to take Tucker to the park and get some zoomies out. I wanted to take some pictures for y’all for the gram, but sometimes it’s nice to put down the camera and just enjoy life. I’m saying that like I’ve done social media my whole life, but I haven’t. Haha! Just comin’ from a girl who literally just got Instagram for the first time in her 20s. Lol.
After gettin’ the zoomies out, we all headed home, Hubby and I got ready for the next thing, and we were out the door, yet again. Hubby was going to the gym with a buddy and I stayed in the car and waited. I read a book called The Housemaid by Freida McFadden, which all my friends were raving about. I know a movie just came out for it and I may see it after I’m done with the book. Either way, y’all will know if I do or don’t. Haha!
After reading and waiting for an hour, we went to a friend’s home. Hubby stayed for poker with the boys and I went with a girlfriend to a sports bar for some pool. I haven’t played much pool in the time I have been alive, but it was so much fun! The 3 of us had such a great time catching up, playing, and roasting each other. Haha! The 3 of us never really play pool, so we were all tryin’ our best. Haha! A few hours later, Hubby and one of the husbands of the girls came to pick us up. But instead, we all played another round of pool. Haha! It was so much fun playing pool with Hubby. I feel like when you play a game with your partner, it really brings you guys closer. Except for Monopoly. Whoever made it hated their brother and wanted to make them suffer. And by extension, the whole world. Haha! But when the game was over and Hubby and I won, we packed up and went home.
As soon as we got home, we both crashed. We were drained from runnin’ all over Timbuktu. We quickly got ready and went to bed. We usually don’t have so many outings in our days, but today was just packed full of them.
A Little Encouragement
Today’s Bible verse is Genesis 3:20:
“The man called his wife’s name EVE, because she was the mother of all living.”
After writing this, I see it’s a massive post. Sorry it’s on the “much longer” side, but I did so much over the past 3 days! Well, I’m not gonna make this loooong post any longer! Hope y’all had a great time reading and I hope to see ya next week!
One more quick little thing. If y’all want to see and hear about what I’ve been doing rather than have to wait for another blog post, follow me on Instagram! I already told y’all what I was doin’ on the days I did them! Give me a follow and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
