Doin Sum, But Not All
Good afternoon, y’all!
I’ve already had some breakfast, but I’ve got a glass of water and I’m ready to chat! I normally wouldn’t go for water, but we all should be drinking a little more than we do. Haha! I’ve also got some sweet sweet country music in the background. With that, take a seat, grab a snack or beverage and lets get to chattin!
Friday 11/21
On this Friday morning when I woke up, I didn’t feel too good. But I got up, took my spot on the couch and wrote a blog post. After writing and posting it, I didn’t do nothin for a few hours and had to lay on the couch while there was a TV show goin on in the background. By late lunch I felt better and grabbed a bit to eat. Which was Chilli’s soup. So good during winter season.
After I was feeling better, I built more LEGO mocs. Building these really has a chokehold on me, but I really enjoy making and building them!
Around 5pm, Hubby and I headed to his grandparents’ house to decorate their Christmas tree with his grandparents, his two brothers and their cousin. We stayed for dinner, chatted for a while, and then went home absolutely wiped.
Friday was a shorter day, but that’s just how it goes when you don’t feel your best. Don’t worry, the weekend made up for it!
Saturday 11/22
This morning I got up at 10:30am. Later than I’d like, but it was Saturday. So I brushed it off. After getting up I took a shower. Super unusual for me, but it was quite refreshing. Lunch was taquitos with my usual sour cream and mild sauce mix. And man does it hit the spot.
After lunch, I built more LEGO mocs while having movies in the background. Today I was in the mood for some nostalgia, which called for both Incredibles movies. I watched The Incredibles and right after that came The Incredibles 2. It’s crazy the original one came out in 2004 and still looks so great and hits every time. What I thought was insane was the second one came out in 2018!! And it still looks amazing! What really gets me every time is when Frozen came out. Freaking 2013! It still feels like all of these movies came out maybe a year ago, but nope! It has been as long as 21 years since they have. Really makes me feel old, dude.
After building LEGO and having The Incredibles in the background, Hubby and I had to get ready for going over to a friends home to have dinner and hang out. And it was so much fun. We can’t hang out with these friends because of their busy schedule, but when we are able to connect and have a meal with them, it really fills my soul. We had chicken for dinner with some sides. And after, we played some games. We played Chinese checkers, which was a first for me, but I loved it! And after that we tried our hand at a fun game. I don’t know what the game is called, but it was such a blast! After we had our fun playing the game, Hubby and I had to go home and sleep.
Sunday 11/23
I got up at 9:30am today, which isn’t too bad. But every Sunday I need to get up to get ready and go to church! The sermon was great, and afterward Hubby had a meeting, so I did my usual Sunday routine: went home, let Tucker out, grabbed some snacks and my current crochet project, and headed back to sit in the parking lot for some quiet “me time.” I worked a bit on our Christmas tree skirt, but it doesn’t really look like I did much. There is progress, but no progress pic today. :/ Not enough progress has happened yet. Haha!
After Hubby’s meeting was done, we went to Taco Bell for lunch. We tend to do this when he has his meetings, which are about twice a month, but it’s so much fun with him. I got my usual, bean burrito add beef and a Loco Dorito Taco. After getting our food, I suggested we go to another parking lot and eat. Treat it like our date for the week. We like to take some time, at least once a week, and have a date. Just some time away from work, housework, all of it. And just have time with one another.
When we came home, we grabbed Tucker and Frank (my 2003 F150 Ford) and went to take some pics for Hubby. He’s working on his own business right now and needed some pictures for his website. I’ll make sure to put some pics I got at the bottom of the post.
When we were done with the photoshoot, we came home and got back to home life. While Hubby worked on his website, I got started on bringing reading back into my day-to-day. I started reading Sunrise on the Reaping by Susan Collins. I read for 2 hours and read to chapter 4. In my last newsletter I talked about how I read this book in a matter of 4 days. This time around, I wanna try and really enjoy and take everything in. I’m not trying to beat my 4 days, but instead trying to take everything in that the book has to offer. But it was so nice being able to sit down and read. What I like to do when I read is put in my AirPods and have some background noise instead of being distracted to the other noises around me. My favorite thing to listen to is on Spotify and it’s some rain background music. Here is where y’all can find it if you wanna take a listen: Cozy Ambience – Rain On Window & Thunder Sounds. This is not something I made, but a sound I found on Spotify.
Dinner was more amazing Chilli’s soup. I put on a TV show, built a few more LEGO mocs, and then called it a night.
Sunday is my rest day, and since my is a stay-at-home wife is taking came of the home, I don’t clean on Sudays. But if I’m being honest with y’all…I didn’t do much on Friday or Saturday either. Sometimes It’s hard to choose cores over the things that sound more fun, and when that goes on for a few days, the house starts lookin a bit like a frat house. As of writing this (11/24), I’ve got plenty waiting for me, and I’m getting on top if it today.
I share this because it’s normal. Life gets messy, we get tired, distracted, etc. You don’t need to beat yourself up, just start again. And when you finish, you will feel so much better not having that hang over your head. What helps me is putting on some music of a favorite podcast to make cleaning feel less like work and more like a vibe. Sometimes when a podcast comes out, I will wait to listen to it when I’m doing chores so I’m more likely to do them because I want to listen so bad.
A Little Encouragement
Today’s Bible verse is Philippians 4:6-7:
“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Thank all y’all for reading todays post! I hope to catch y’all in the next one!
