Conquering Dish Mountain and Fangirling Over a Lego
Good afternoon, y’all!
Hey y’all! Hope all y’all are having a great start to your day! Today I’ve got a good ‘ol cup of water and some Disney Lofi in the background. Just the same ‘ol same ‘ol. Grab a glass of water (because both you and I need our water for the day!) and a comfy blanket. Let’s get chattin’!
Wednesday 1/7
Today I got up at a reasonable time! And that time was 8:30am. After getting up, I started writing a blog post for the day. Took a bit of time, but I am so happy to write for y’all!
After writing, I got started on washing Mount Dishes. I actually put a really good dent in it today! Super proud of myself. Haha!
I was going to meet my mom for lunch at noon, and I was in charge of picking up the food. So, I got myself and Tucker ready to go. We got in the car and away to Panda Express we went! We grabbed the food, came to pick up Mom and one of her co-workers were outside to also say hi to Tuck. He was surprisingly good in public too! Don’t know exactly how, but he has pretty good manners in public.
After saying hi and Tucker getting some toys, my mom and I drove and grabbed a spot in the parking lot. It was really nice being able to sit down and talk with my mom over a meal. When you’re little, it seems lame. Well, unless you’re coming with your grandma and she got you McDonalds. Haha! But you tend to take advantage of those small moments and not really care for them when you’re little than when you do as an adult. Now being an adult, I cherish every time I get to sit down and just talk with my parents and brother. I highly recommend talking with your parents, grandparents or siblings sometime. It will for sure make them happy knowing you want to talk with them. :)
When we finished our food and conversation, it was time for Mom to go back to work. We said our goodbyes, Tuck included, and Tuck and I headed home. I posted my blog and started on some chores.
I feel that for a while I wasn’t doing as many chores as I should’ve been doing day by day. But after I thought and told y’all what I wanted my realistic New Years resolutions to be and one of them being to do at least 3 chores a day, I’ve been consistently doing just that! I’m getting at least 3 chores done a day. Really recommend y’all try it out, really helps around here! I finished the dishes, started some laundry and ordered more laundry powder from Amazon. Usually, we would go with the unscented one, but I wanted to try another sent they have. Lemon. Hubby and I thought it would be a little punchy, but it is an enjoyable subtle scent of lemon.
After chores, I read and Hubby did some computer stuff. I believe I also said I wanted to read more this year, and I’ve already started! What made me want to read was just forcing myself to do so. So, I did. I read a page and a half of Sunrise on the Reaping by Susanne Collins and I was hooked! I think I’m going to get through all the books I want to!
After reading, Hubby and I went to Walmart. If you followed the blog’s Instagram, you would’ve seen we got some cake pops while in Walmart. And honestly, not too bad for Walmart cake pops. After a small shopping session, we got home and I got right on to making dinner. Which was Shepherd’s Pie. I haven’t had it very much and thought I wouldn’t like it, but it’s really not too bad!
After making and having dinner, Hubby and I hung out then when it was time, we got ready and went to bed.
Thursday 1/8
Today I got up at a good time. Not as good as the day before, but still good. Maybe around 8:45am and 9am. After getting up I fed Tuck and took him out. We came in and I had some nutritious breakfast: Fruit Loops. Those things really bring back your childhood nostalgia just through taste and smell. Crazy.
After eating, I got started on some more chores. I also tried to film me doing them for Instagram. Which was successful, but I hit a pretty thick brick wall when trying to edit it down into 1min and 30 sec for Reels. Still in the process of editing them, but no promise they’re going to be out soon. Lol The chores I did were dishes, picked up the family room, vacuumed and laundry. Pretty standard stuff.
After becoming frustrated with all things technology, I watched some TV. Well, I watched YouTube on the TV. Haha! While watching TV, I had some leftover Shephard’s Pie. Not bad when reheated.
When I finished, I continued to watch TV for a bit. I also painted my nails with a shimmer topcoat. I wanted to have some fun and something on my toes. Lol
I finished and kept YouTube on in the background. And I did what I usually do, pull out my phone and look at Pinterest. I wanted to do something, but I just didn’t know what to do. I knew I wanted to do something with my hands. But I didn’t want to do any chores or boring stuff. I wanted to have fun making something. And every idea fell flat. Until I looked at Pinterest and found something amazing. I found the most beautiful Lego I have ever seen. Because I’m into reading and books right now, it just made it that much better.
Someone had taken 5 of the gift with purchase sets, Books Are My Passion and put them together to make an absolute masterpiece. I’ll have a picture of the picture from the original creator below, but I wanted to make it so bad. I was looking high and low for maybe a parts list or some of the techniques he used. I went to my computer and searched. Eventually I came up short. So, I did what I usually do when I’m at a dead end. No, not Pinterest scroll, but I go to the chat of the g of the p of the t. Aka: ChatGPT. I put up a few pics of the Lego creation and asked if it could find the person who made it. Or if there were any kind of instructions for it somewhere. It didn’t just give me what I asked, but it gave me everything. The build was on ReBrickable with the list of instructions, pieces needed and was also able to pull it up all prebuilt in BrickLink Studio. I literally could’ve cried, it was all so beautiful.
Seeing I could literally make it my own in BrickLink Studio (you can pretty much build and customize Lego in the program) I got straight to work. I was so happy I thought of so many things I want to do to make it my own little library. Here is a short list of what I want to change: color of many of the book spines to look like they are some of mine and Hubby’s favorite books, change the dog to a black lab and I want to add some small Disney things (ex: Cinderella’s Glass Slipper). I don’t want to talk too too much about this because I think Imma turn this into a Newsletter post for next week. Instead of a rant, it’s going to be me fangirling over this amazing Lego. If you want to read that, either click here to subscribe to the Newsletter, or scroll to the bottom of this page and subscribe to it there.
After fangirling over this amazing Lego set, Hubby and I got ready and went to bed.
A Little Encouragement
Today’s Bible verse is 1 Peter 4:10:
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
Thank all y’all for reading today’s post! Can’t wait to fangirl out next week on the Newsletter about the Lego discovery! I pray y’all have an amazing and cozy rest of your Friday!
