Just Another Cozy Midweek
Good afternoon, y’all!
I’m sadly without a drink today, but I do have some coffee cake to snack on while we chat. I also have my One Direction playlist playing in the background — very nostalgic, and honestly such a vibe. Grab your snack or drink of choice and pull up a chair while we catch up on the last few days!
Wednesday 11/12
I started the morning around 9am. I wish it had been earlier, but honestly, I’ll take it. I made a whipped iced coffee, grabbed a GoGo Squeeze, and fed Banjo his Wednesday treat — his beloved can of wet food. He gets kibble normally, but the man KNOWS when it’s wet food day. He practically escorts you to the kitchen. Haha!
Once Banjo was happy, I sat down to write my blog post for the day and finished by noon. I finally figured out the picture-with-captions thing on Squarespace, and it went way more smoothly than expected.
After posting, I moved onto chores — the usual four: dishes, laundry, vacuuming, and picking up. Simple things, but I weirdly love the routine of it.
I’d been talking to a lady on Facebook Marketplace about a book, and we agreed I’d come by at 1pm. After finishing chores, I drove over and picked it up — a vintage Winnie the Pooh book with all the original stories. My nursery as a baby was Winnie the Pooh themed, and I’d love something similar one day when I have my own little one. (Not pregnant yet — just dreaming ahead!)
Since I was already out, I ran into Hobby Lobby for more yarn. I didn’t realize just how much yarn these baby gifts would take. Yikes.
When I got home, I noticed part of the dog leash was slipping out of place. Nothing major, but enough to bug me. So I pulled out the Gorilla Glue and fixed it right up.
Then came lunch — deviled eggs, banana slices, and leftover pizza. A strange combo, but it worked. I’m in a major deviled egg phase right now. Making them every other day at this point. Haha!
The afternoon was dedicated to crocheting baby gifts. And let me tell you… I struggled. HARD. But as of today (11/14), I think I’m finally getting somewhere with it.
It got dark outside pretty early — I thought it was 8pm, but nope, just 6. Hubby was still in the field and said he’d be home around 10pm, so I decided to turn on a movie. I watched the first Divergent movie. It felt like it flew by, probably because I read the book and the movies always leave out so much detail. But it still made me want to pick up a book again soon.
After the movie, I switched back to my show and kept crocheting until hubby got home. Then it was straight to bed!
Thursday 11/13
Thursday was a quieter day. I got up and made breakfast for hubby — eggs and bacon — then jumped into my quick morning chores while the bacon cooked. Dishes, vacuuming, picking up… you know the drill. Once everything was done, I plated his food and then got started on mine.
I made a box coffee cake (my FAVORITE) and let it bake while I cooked my own breakfast of eggs and bacon. Honestly, nothing beats warm coffee cake on a cold morning. And I won’t gatekeep, the brand of coffee cake I love is the Krusteaz Cinnamon Swirl box mix.
After breakfast, I picked up the crochet projects again. At this point, that baby lovey was fighting me with everything it had. I finally put it down, turned on my show, and let myself relax for a bit.
My mom comes over every other Thursday, and this was her week! She brought Chipotle for dinner, which was delicious as always. We sat on the couch for a couple hours talking about our weeks and catching up. Nothing fancy — just simple time together, which honestly means a lot to me. And I know she’s reading this, so, hi Mom!! Yes, I am 5. Haha!
After she headed home, I put on some good ol’ YouTube. I haven’t watched hair fail videos in a while, but they’re still entertaining. I can cut hair that’s not on my own head — I cut my husband’s — but I could never bring scissors near my own. And bleaching or dyeing? Absolutely not. I’ll leave the failing to other people online, thank you. Lol.
Once I had enough secondhand panic from girls frying their hair, hubby and I got ready for bed and called it a night.
As promised, here’s my Chipotle order:
• Carnitas
• Brown rice
• Black beans
• Corn
• Guacamole (sometimes — it’s so pricey!)
• Sour cream
• Cheese
• And for a drink, either Coke or Pepsi, depending on what they have.
A Little Encouragement
Today’s Bible verse is Deuteronomy 31:6:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
I hope y’all have the coziest November afternoon. Stay warm, stay safe, and treat yourself to something comforting today!
With a spoonful of sweetness, Rachel
Photos!
I don’t have any photos from the last two days. Gotta get better at taking photos for y’all. Lol
